Building AI for a Billion Voices
Sarvam's mission was ambitious.to make India's AI ecosystem accessible across 22 Indian languages, spanning products like text-to-speech, speech-to-text, translation, AI agents, and dubbing tools.
The challenge? A fast-paced, production-grade environment with constantly evolving APIs and architectures. Multiple AI teams (STT, TTS, Translate, Text, Samvaad) working in parallel. The need to build scalable, intuitive, and data-driven interfaces for both internal teams and public developers.
Our task was to turn complex AI infrastructure into seamless user experiences.where performance, scalability, and engagement met clean design and technical excellence.
Building Products That Millions Use
At Sarvam, I led the frontend development for multiple flagship products:
Sarvam Samvaad (Conversational AI Agents): Over 56,000+ lines of production code, powering AI suggestions, real-time interactions, and user engagement at scale.
API Dashboard (Public-Facing Developer Gateway): Completely reimagined Sarvam's only external-facing product, taking it from a minimal setup to a full-fledged developer experience with model playgrounds, key management, and billing. Result? User growth skyrocketed from 5K to 40K+ in just 3 months, with 4K+ daily active users.
Dubbing Studio: Built an end-to-end UI for AI-powered dubbing and subtitling in just 2 weeks, delivering an MVP that became a core internal tool.
Sarvam Translate: Delivered a sleek, SEO-optimized UI for India's most comprehensive multilingual translation platform, supporting 22 Indian languages, LaTeX, Markdown, and more. Shipped 29K+ lines of code in just 2 days.
The Outcome
Across all projects, our team contributed over 156,000 lines of production-level code, driving 8x platform growth in user base and engagement, unified analytics and observability for better product decisions, and reusable, scalable UI components adopted across multiple Sarvam products.
Beyond code, the project taught us the core pillars that now guide our agency's work: Product Ownership (shipping fast without compromising quality), System Thinking (building for maintainability and long-term scale), and User-Centric Engineering (designing interfaces that simplify complex AI).
